A Quick Visit to Martha's

A couple of weeks ago we made a quick visit into Martha's Pantry for something quick to eat.
We were off to the St James afterwards to get Salem fitted for this Giselle costume.

It was a beautiful sunny spring day and Martha's was bright and sunny.
Salem had to go outside and have a look at the garden.
The tea cups out side had made a reappearance as last time we were here, which was quite a while ago, the teacups had dissappeared.
They had been glued onto the wall but now they were screwed on.  A much better idea.
Salems's favourite Wattle trees have grown a lot and are looking lovely.

We shared a rose milkshake and had a club sandwich each and then shared a large ginger kiss which was a real treat.  It had bits of candied ginger in it, yummy!!!!

Pottery and Puppies



The Crown Lynn Exhibition at the City Gallery

On Saturday we had our usual excursion into Wellington and decided to go to see the Crown Lynn exhibition at the City Gallery in Civic Square.  I've been wanting to go for weeks and we had plenty of time to kill so off we went.

Crown Lynn is an iconic pottery brand and I think every person in New Zealand has at least a cup or two of Crown Lynn.  I've got a bit of a collection and am slowly adding to it.  Salem is now collecting some for himself after seeing the exhibition.

They had an old film from the National Archives showing the old Crown Lynn factory and how they made the pottery, it was very cool.
Needless to say, we enjoyed seeing all the different types of pottery that they had on display.

Afterwards we made our way to Martha's Pantry (where else????!!!!!!) and had our lunch.  It was very crowded with people having high teas, even the outside tables were taken.  So we joined a couple of the owners and their friend's on a table outside along with Puppy who became great friends.

  We stayed a couple of hours as Salem doggy-sat Puppy and took her for walks and they had a lovely time hanging out together.  He was quite sad when we had to leave.  He should see her again next weekend.

We had a lovely day in Wellington yesterday.  We caught the train in which wasn't late for a change.
We had a very yummy lunch at the Jimmy Cafe at the St James Theatre and bought our tickets to TUTU'S ON TOUR (Royal NZ Ballet).

Then Salem was off to Craft Camp and had a great time and made his own stamps and stationary.
Meanwhile I had a pot of tea and a delicious piece of lemon meringue pie while I did a bit of my Winter House cross stitch at Martha's Pantry.  After that I was at my leisure to wander around the antique shops and retro clothing shops.  Salem is not to keen on looking at the shops so it was the best time to do it by myself while he was doing his crafts.

After Craft Camp we went back to Martha's Pantry and had a very civilised afternoon tea before heading home.

We LOVE Martha's Pantry!!!!!

Every time we go into Wellington City we go to Martha's for tea.

Lot's of yummy elegant treats.  Great staff too.

I thought I would share this with you.

The tea shop is full of crafts and vintagey goodies to buy.

Can't wait til our next visit.

Going home to Island Bay

These are three of my cross stich projects from last year.  Three of many.........

The first I did for my teenaged son's birthday.  Being a typical teenager, he's into war etc, but this has an Anzac connection eg. the New Zealand flag and the old style Poppy Day poppies.

The second started from a free pattern from the sampler girl which I carried on with to add my own design inspired by our favourite tearoom, Martha's Pantry in Upper Cuba Street in Wellington City.  We go there a lot!!!!!

The third is inspired by where I grew up, Island Bay and the great beach, I spent alot of my childhood there.  I take my own children there now and hope to move back there by the end of this year.  It will be "going home".
